Advanced Water
A company overview
EnquiriesAdvanced Water Technologies started its sustainability process in 2019 by looking at what could be done relatively quickly to reduce its CO2e output. An outline list of projects was drawn up and actions put in place to execute each one. There were 14 items on that original list.
To date those items have been actioned, but due to several acquisitions some aspects of the Carbon Reduction plan have been amended and changed to account for an increase in both staff numbers and customer base which has resulted in an increase in our Co2e in some areas.
The greatest areas of increase are in vehicles (Scope 1) and in some areas of our Scope 3 emissions – goods purchased in (chemicals) and those sent out by courier (deliveries). There have also been increases in the Scope 2 area for the additional premises we now have. In 2024 the range of activities viewed in Scope 3 were increased to provide a more reflective picture of AWTs outputs; staff commuting as an example is now included.
Areas where improvements have continued to show gains are in the use of the mini-IBCs and better recycling of used 25kg Drums and IBCs.
Green initiatives
The green initiatives continue either supporting the planting of more trees, via Earthly; planted throughout projects in Scotland. To date AWT has supported the planting of 1895 trees and supported 2 years of Seaweed initiatives.
Waste Disposal
An area that AWT has always strived to do well in, ensuring that any waste generated is recycled where possible. Adopting the new waste disposal standards, working with its waste collection partners, AWT is compliant with the recently introduced Waste Regulations to achieve a high degree of recycling.
